Gerbils on the Move, Only More So

Elephant’s babies are over 2 weeks old now and staring to look more like gerbils than little red globs. I’ve posted more pictures to the set.

Better yet, really on the move:

Gerbils on the Move

Elephant moved her babies out of hiding. There are still two, which is good news. She had lost two, and since she nested with them, we couldn’t keep an eye on them. Now, they have fur, and she has one gray one and one tawny one. Still a little young to tell what gender they are.

New Gerbils

May 15th, 2008 Tom 1 comment

While I was on my east coast trip, some commingling between our male and one of our female gerbils (Elephant). Last week, she gave birth to 4 gerbils. One died right away and another died a couple of days later. The remaining 2 seem to be doing fine, although Elephant has been keeping them well-hidden. They are too young to determine gender, so we haven’t named them yet (even though that didn’t stop us from naming Elephant). Hopefully, they will soon be big and strong enough to wander from the nest.

This picture is from last week when there were still 3 of them. Click on the photo for more pics.
