Coming just a little over a month after Warner Bros. announced they were going exclusively with Blu-Ray, Best Buy and Netflix announce that they are heading that way as well.
Wired reports that Netflix will be going exclusively with Blu-Ray, and ComingSoon.net reports that, although Best Buy will still carry HD DVD, it will “prominently showcase Blu-ray hardware and software products.”
Yes, I think it has–and I’ve been suggesting that Blu-ray was a strong favorite ever since both formats reached the market. It won’t be over until (a) Toshiba releases a Blu-ray player and (b) Universal and Paramount/Dreamworks reverse their “HD DVD-only” stance and start releasing Blu-ray. I have no intention of suggesting when those events might take place.
I’m glad I didn’t make any early predictions. I won’t say which way my instincts leaned but let’s just say if I said it out loud, I would have been wrong.
